Applications of BBa_K2018012

We cloned the part into a purification plasmid (pTXB1) provided from NEB, we then performed a impact purification of 500 ml ON-cuture and ended with 2.5 ml purified protein with a concentration of 44,4 ug/ml.

We then performed a MIC assay to test for antimicrobial effect. The MIC assay where performed on three resistant S. aureus and one P. aeruginosa we got the following results:

MIC values
Strain ug/ml
S. aureus:CC398 22,2
S. aureus:USA300 22,2
S. aureus:hVISA 22,2
P. aeruginosa:PAO1 >22,2

The idea is that you can use the bacteriocin as a antimicrobial agent how ever it pleases you. We looked into the possibility of coating both the bacteriocin in a compound to make it not digested, or coating stuff in bacteriocins so they may be antimicrobial.
